NWASAC Two Day Open Otterspool 11th – 12th Dec.
After 2 weeks of adverse weather conditions and road closures I was not sure what the turnout would be with anglers travelling from as far as Scotland, Isle of Man, Ireland , South Wales, Isle of wight, but I was not disappointed, that terrible disease that match anglers suffer from, the angling bug, could not keep them at home as many of them dug there way out of the snow to attend the 17th Annual Two day match, held at Otterspool.
It was a pity the Whiting in the river were not as abundant as usual, me thinks the migration of the shrimp to deeper water due to the cold, saw the whiting follow leaving small codling and Flounders as the main target for the 93 anglers that attended each day.
I would like to thank Malcolm Scullion from
www.bassboots.co.uk for sponsoring the match by offering a free pair of Waders and supplying the match cards and to Julian Shambrook, Anyfish Anywhere for donating 2 rods for the day winners and Pete Coogan, Sea angler magazine, The Fisherman, Mersey Anglers, officers of the NWASAC for raffle donations.
I would also like to apologise to any anglers wishing to pleasure fish the pegged area for any inconvenience caused.
We had £4080 match fee’s which we paid out 100% to the top 3 in each of the 4 zones, two longest fish each day, and the top 3 anglers of the 2 day aggregate.
