Not been beach fishing since early January,so we decided to have a go for the flounders at a well known mark Wink we ended up with just three in total,( one each, so no blankers)biggest was Rays, at 42cm.
This place has changed a lot since this time last year, where there was sand is now covered in a thick layer of mud. Rolling Eyes
Nice couple of hours spent, sunny, but with a real nip in the air, think a bigger tide would have suited us better, will be giving it another go in the next few weeks or so.

Steve,
do you mean the clubs fixture here? if so,looking at this venue there are only a few places that are clear of mud,so if you get a few fishing it,then some will be standing in mud. until the tide gets up to high water.
Didn't really study the area around us,but the area we normally fish was covered in thick mud,so we gave that area a wide berth. Sad

It has changed , for the better in my opinion. Dont think the mud will be too much of a problem if you have wellies. The pirates match last week produced some decent size fish and they fished it on a tide that was too small. Ours is ideal for there and, hopefully should throw up plenty of bin lids Very Happy Ps. i think we will be lucky to get more than a dozen so there should be plenty of space.. Would be nice to see more but intrest is at a bit of a low at the moment.

Will fish the match, providing I can get a lift from the usual suspects Laughing got a new pair of derri boots, bought a bigger size than I needed, basically to use for winter fishing on the boats.
Boy they are huge !!!!!
used them for this venue Tuesday, and got the p\ss taken out of me by the other two Laughing feet were nice and warm though, you can get two size nines in one boot Shocked (should be able to ski across the mudflats with these 'Laughing' )
I'm looking for a bass/estuary rod now,got quite a few beachcasters, but no light rods, looking at the sonik sk3 bass/estuary rod casts up to 5oz.supposed to be able to hold them all day.
Have you got any recommendations for other rods to look at in the 2-4oz range? Don't want to spend daft money on it,it's just for occaisional use.

Nice one matt, Derri boots are sound, the other two are just jealous of your fashion sense mate!.
Light beach/bass rods- can't say i've used too many. i'm using a flattie fanatic( conoflex) but i got it second hand for a steal. I;ve got an sk3, nice blanks but the rings are suspect. If i was you i'd look on the angling forums classified threads. you can pick up some bargains

Mackerel accounted for those flounders, fresh from tesco Laughing .believe the sonik sk3 is now fitted with fuji eyes. Also having a look at the AFAW estuary rod.seems to be exactly what I am looking for. bounce bounce bounce
