| Decided to give it a try for the soles here, arrived 3 hours before high water.baited up and waited, and waited and waited not a sniff, bait not being touched, decided to use some mackerel and have a go for the Rays, same story. Then decided to go back to trying for the soles, using this time, some small twisted wire booms and size 4 mustad Kirkby hooks and 12lb maxima short hook lengths, half an hour before high, the rod started to nod, reeled in, and thought I had hooked into one hell of a slimey eel turned out to be a Thornback of around 4-5lb,managed to hand ball it up the wall and onto the top of the wall when the line snapped and the Ray disappeared over the side. Changed the hooks to size 2/0 sakumas and heavier snoods, baited up again with the mackerel cast out and twenty minutes later hooked into another Ray around 3.5lb,this one I managed to land Just a short session on my own,but pleased to catch something decent for a change. | |
