Hello all. 14 members turned out early on a cloudy Sunday morning to fish the promenade at vale park ,Wallasey. I think a few we're still lagered up from the night before but no major mishaps happened.11 caught a variety of fish , mainly plaice and flounder , a solitary school bass for beach captain , Martin, but more surprisingly were the MACKEREL that we caught! Not just one but12 between 11 anglers! Enough to suggest it wasn't a fluke! I can only guess its down to the extended hot sunny calm weather. I heard the river is full of sand eels and fry too so they could be chasing them in. They were taking bottom fished baits and stemmed to hit on the retrieve. I decided to allow 2 mackerel to count for each angler as I think if they are there we may as well fish for them. They saved a few anglers blanking so that's a good result in my book.
Thanks to all the anglers who turned up and supported the club ,hope you enjoyed it.
