the first trip of the year
locked out at 6 .am. this morning 6 of us on board,I did not expect anything worth while due to all the rain over the last week it normallyy puts the fish down when to much fresh water runs in to the river, we dropped anchor on our first mark and started to catch whiting it was bloody cold but dry, when we got the first signes of daylight we moved to our favorite mark and caught more whiting, just as lowe water neared the cod came out to play not loads but a steady stream this carried on untill the end we finished up with around 10 keepers biggest pushing 4 pounds we kept a few big whiting and returned about another 70 and 10 dabs as well, we locked back in about 4 ish not a bad day but cold and windy

well in dave and ronnie,, at least you are actually getting out and catching some fish,,,,,we havemt been out since September 2011....talk about bad weather for 3 months.....nice to know that the fish are still there,,, dont think this saturday will be any different weatther wise,, but you never know,,,, well in again for getting out there and cathing! dead jealous me....keith

I cannot believe you were out in that wind Dave its been blowing a bastard all day and night - was the date right 3-1-2012 ? good catch though well done ....

the wind was not a problem blowing w.s.w. gusting to 30 knots, as it was w.s.w. the mersey was not far from a flat calm we did see about 5 small boats they stayed up around sea forth except 1 that fished lairds
