HELLOO ALL SORRY THE REPORT IS LATE... BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!!
were do i start...
called the skipper first thing friday morning about 8.30 a report of A.O.K by the skipper, so we all set off on are way to whitby, when we arrived at whitby we were all a bit peckish so we all decided to have some of whitbys famous fish and chips for our dinner and a bit of shopping in whitby angling and shed a couple of £££'s.
We got all of are gear on board about 5.30pm only to be told that we could not set off as the steering on the boat had taken the nock and the skipper needed to contact a engineer to fix the steering before we could do anything else, the only down fall was the engineer wouldnt be able to fix the steering until 9am the next morning, so we all got together in the cabin and decided that we would leave first thing the following morning and stay on the boat over night, but before we left to go to the pub the skipper said i will try and get the engineer down here to fix the boat so weeall agreed if the boat was fixed before 10pm we would go fishing so we decided to go for a couple of pints to drown are sorrows, whilst in the pub having a pint or two i got a call from the skipper saying that the boat is ready to be back on board or 10pm to set sail.
we all made it back on board for 10pm ready and rareing to go we set sail at 10 or just after, whilst steaming ahead we had a few cans in the cabin and a bit of banter between the lads a bit of a laugh and a joke as you do... baring in mind the trip was cut short it was a 36hrs trip reduced down to 24hr trip because of the wasted tim that evening...
Whilst steaming ahead through the night the lads and me decided to get some shut eye ready for the day ahead, so as it goes the fishing started about 7.30am we all droped to the wrecks below ste bates was first to catch a cod about 10lb (jammy get).... oh yer he lost it as it at the side of the boat.... nice one ste....
a couple of other fish come off the first wreck arounf about the 5-6lb mark all decent fish...
then steaming to the next wreck GUESS WHAT... steering went aging so we were drifting arounf in the middle of the north sea for about 1hr20mins and then we finally got to the second wreck never fished very well caught a couple of small codling and small whiteing nothing to write home about, the skipper then decided tp steam on to another wreck GUESS WHAT... you guessed the steering went againg haha...
gpt to the next wreckhad some nice fish off it cod, ling up to between 5-11lb then all the fishing just went totally off the boil no one was catching anything so finally the skipper decided to put us over some ruff ground for the last hour and a half we had some small ling and that was that fishing over ready to real up and head back... was so disapointed lost so much gear along with everyone else we all ended up with about 6lb of fish each in fillets very dissapointing personally i will not be going again.
My appoligies to all the anglers as i said before everyone was hyped up all in all the weekend was a dissapointment.
sorry lads hope it doesnt put you off future trips.
cheers les.
